Jack’s Story

The story of Jack’s Sourdough Bakery

In March of 2020, school shut down and Jack, a high school senior at the time said, “I always wanted to try making a sourdough starter.” So he did. He looked at recipes. Such a combination of his scientific loves – chemistry, math, and testing. He made pretzels and bread. Everyone wished they could have some, so he started selling with contactless pick up from the garage. He spent lots of time with his mother baking together (and teaching her all about bread making).

🍞 He made family & friends so happy during this isolating time.

His freshman year of college was 100% virtual, so he stayed home and studied online. He decided to try selling at the Farmer’s market. His first week he made as many loaves and pretzels as he could and sold out by 11am. He figured how to make more the following week. He started to amass customers online and from the market.

🍞He made friends and strangers so happy with his products.

His next summer he had a local internship, so he could work weekdays and bake on the weekends. When he went back to school in the fall, his cousin came to learn to bake and make some money. The next 2 summers he had internships in Boston and then Long Beach, CA. His cousin and brother both came to carry on his business and make some money. His mom held a fundraiser sale for Alzheimers Research – a charity that hits close to home. He bakes a lot at college for his Formula SAE Racing team. He bakes so much for them that he is an official sponsor and has his bakery logo on the car!

🍞His “business” has made so many customers happy.

He is so satisfied to be able to spread such joy to so many through his grass roots business. Thanks to all of you who have supported his business the past few years.
